2026 NOBEL PRIZE IN MEDICINE

Illuminating the brain with light.

The 2026 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine recognizes Karl Deisseroth, Peter Hegemann, and Georg Nagel for discoveries behind optogenetics. This revolutionary approach uses light-sensitive proteins to control the activity of specific nerve cells, helping scientists explore how neural circuits influence memory, emotion, and behavior.

The Nobel laureates are not announced as guest speakers at this event.
